Usually I don’t read (or even write for the matter) reviews. For the past couple years I preferred going in blind to a movie – or at least as much as possible. In retrospect, that was a little hard to do, considering that I have this blog. It’s kind of ironic. It also explains why I have written less about spoilers on here. Nevertheless, I read a review on a movie that instantly piqued my interest: The Big Short.
Growing up, I was a huge fan of actor and martial artist, Mark Dacascos. You could even say I idolized the man. I loved his fighting style in Drive – which if you haven’t seen, you really should. It has incredible fight scenes. Why am I bringing him up? (Pretending that you didn’t read the headline.) He has signed on to one of my favorite TV shows: Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
The show Gotham has grown with another new cast member that piqued my interest a lot. A lot. BD Wong has joined and he will portray Batman villain, Hugo Strange. Before I get into that – BD Wong. Of Jurassic Park. And more recently: Jurassic World. You know him. The ever-smug Doctor Henry Wu.
Today Empire released their magazine cover of Jared Leto as the Joker for the upcoming movie, Suicide Squad. It further illustrates the departure from earlier film incarnations. It’s wildly different from the Heath Ledger version. For instance, the coat looks expensive, rather than the ill-fitted mess in The Dark Knight. Plus the cane is a nice touch.
Marvel’s Ant-Man was a long movie coming. Edgar Wright started scripting it before there was Iron Man — even before there was something called Marvel Studios. Then there was the start of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that grew. Then there was a falling out between Marvel and Wright. Things looked dire for Ant-Man. But alas! A miracle! The movie came out and it wasn’t a mess. In fact, it was a blast.
The last season of Doctor Who is now far enough behind us that I can safely say that Peter Capaldi is my favorite Doctor.
