Battlestar Galactica Exhibit

By |2019-05-25T14:42:34-08:00September 3rd, 2010|

The Experience Music Project|Science Fiction Museum in Seattle, Washington, is opening a new exhibit: Battlestar Galactica: The Exhibition. It’ll feature props, costumes, and music from the original series and the re-imagined series. On top of that, it’ll also feature three full-size spaceships. It will open to the public on October 23, 2010 to March 4, 2012.

Saying that I think it’s awesome that Battlestar has an exhibit is an understatement. If anything, it inspires me to get a group together for a road trip to see it.

NBC’s Magic Drama from Ronald D. Moore

By |2019-05-25T14:42:34-08:00September 2nd, 2010|

The man behind the re-imagining of Glen A. Larson’s Battlestar Galactica, Ronald D. Moore has signed a deal with NBC for a new drama series where magic is the norm. It’s been described as an adult Harry Potter. Apparently the pilot and series penalties totaled around $2 million.

Moore has an excellent track record with the shows he’s worked on. Battlestar Galactica is still viewed as one of the top series on television, and Moore also had a hand in HBO’s Carnivale, which is highly regarded. It’ll be exciting to see how his new project pans out.

Martin Scorsese Attached to Series Drama Boardwalk Empire

By |2019-05-25T14:42:38-08:00August 8th, 2010|

Director Martin Scorsese made the leap from movies to the television medium. For years now he’s been wanting to be involved with a television show because of the character development and long story arcs, explained Scorsese.

He’ll be attached to the new series Boardwalk Empire, created by Terence Winter and starring Steve Buscemi. The premise will deal with Prohibition; with crime figures such as Capone and Luciano. The period drama’s first episode will be directed by Scorsese, and he’s made it vocal that he’s interested in directing more episodes.

A period piece on organized crime drama starring Steve Buscemi — and with Martin Scorsese attached? That’s enough reason to watch the new HBO series.

Comic-Con: Supernatural

By |2019-05-25T14:42:39-08:00August 3rd, 2010|

The panel for Supernatural brought out actors Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins, and Jim Beaver; along with creator Eric Kripke, show runner Sera Gamble, and writer Ben Edlund.

Season five wrapped the five-year-long story arc that Kripke wrote for Supernatural, and he considers the upcoming season to be a sequel that won’t be hindered by the prior story. Kripke stepped down from his creative role, but he will still be involved with the direction of the show in some capacity with the writers, and as he put it, “I’m like delightful hemorrhoids, fuzzy hemorrhoids.” He believes the new team has great ideas that will further the show’s success.

With a fresh start ahead for the show, Gamble told the audience that they want to bring in more monsters on the show, but instead of the typical monster of the week, the monsters will have more of an impact on the overall storyline.

With Heaven in disarray, Castiel has been assigned to “clean up duty” according to Misha Collins. He compared it to when Russia had a crumbling government many years ago, and joked that Castiel will speak with a Russian accent — going as far as suddenly speaking with the accent.

Season six will pick up a year after the events of the prior season, with Dean Winchester living a domesticated lifestyle. Then, of course, being pulled back into a life as a hunter. It’s quite the reversal from the first season when Dean was the one pulling Sam back into the fray.

The cast were relentless on teasing each other. Jared at one point admitted that he didn’t watch the last three episodes, which later caused Misha to say, “Jared is still watching the first season; he can’t answer that question.” Jensen, on directing an episode revolving around Bobby Singer, joked that directing Jim Beaver was extremely difficult. Jim was quick to praise Jensen’s directing, and he became sentimental at one point discussing it — only to quickly add, “Did you really believe that crap?” getting a laugh out of the cast, crew, and audience.

Supernatural returns on September 24th, and will be airing on Fridays at 9 PM. It’ll be exciting to see the direction they’ll be taking the show — they clearly enjoy their work, and the passion for it is as strong as ever.

Disney’s Gargoyles Project

By |2019-05-25T14:42:41-08:00July 15th, 2010|

Disney is acquiring Zoe Green to pen the story on a gargoyles feature that will be produced by Lauren Shuler Donner and Jack Leslie. One of the only concrete details on the project is that it’ll be set during the modern times.

The impression the news gives off is that it’ll be an original story — which is odd to many people since Disney has produced the cartoon Gargoyles in the 90s. It’s a well-made show that would translate smoothly on the big screen. There’s a chance that it is the case, and if so, I’ll be stoked for it.

Third Robot Chicken Star Wars Special

By |2019-05-25T14:42:41-08:00July 13th, 2010|

Premiering on December 12th will be the third installment of Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode III by Adult Swim and Robot Chicken. Billy Dee Williams, Ahmed Best, and others will be making a return; along with newcomers Anthony Daniels reprising C3PO, Donald Glover, Mike Henry, and Zac Efron voicing Anakin Skywalker.

Seth Green says that this time the story will be more linear covering the series from the beginning to end; this time we’ll be seeing it through the eyes of the antagonists in the films.

The prior specials were hilarious and earned Annie Awards and Emmy nominations — I’m excited to watch the third installment with fellow Star Wars geeks. It’ll be a blast.

Firefly Reunion . . . Sorta

By |2019-05-25T14:42:41-08:00July 9th, 2010|

Yesterday Nathan Fillion posted a picture of himself with part of the Firefly crew and creator Joss Whedon. He captioned it, “Together. Again,” without an elaboration. It’s more than safe to assume he meant the fact that they’re attending his party, but a lot of fans are speculating that a Firefly project is underway. Personally, I think they sacrificed an effigy for swift justice to be served to Fox for their crimes towards good Sci-Fi shows.
