Just two years ago news came out that the mobile game Angry Birds would become a movie. Ridiculous, right? I thought so too. But then again, I ignored the core audience: children. Since then, the game made a $71 million profit. It’s still as popular as ever.
Ender’s Game is receiving the film adaptation treatment; starring Harrison Ford, Asa Butterfield, and Ben Kingsley thrown in for good measure. The movie is based on Orson Scott Card’s book, with the screenplay written by Gavin Hood, who also directs.
Marvel and ABC had their beloved Joss Whedon put together the television show, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., with the intent of it taking place within the same universe as the films being released in theaters. His brother and sister-in-law, Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, serves as showrunners. It of course stars Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson.
Keanu Reeves was relatively quiet on the big screen front, but that all changes with the film 47 Ronin on the horizon. Reeves stars as the rejected half-breed named Kai, who the others eventually reach out to for help against otherworldly enemies.

J.J. Abrams is well-known for his overuse of lens flare in his films. In fact, in a way, it’s his signature. Seeing that lens flare is a dead giveaway that it’s an Abrams’ movie. And it’s usually made fun of, especially when Abrams was announced as director for the next Star Wars film.
Sunday night was the anticipated Breaking Bad series finale, aptly named Felina. The most obvious meaning behind the title is that it’s an anagram for “finale”. The other? It’s that — no wait, are you caught up on Breaking Bad? If you aren’t, do not read any farther. Drop everything and get caught up right now.

Ben Affleck’s casting as Bruce Wayne/Batman has caused a lot of rage, and my knee-jerk reaction was close to that. The first thought in mind — and for many others — was the dreadful Daredevil movie Affleck was in. But that was 10 years ago. Affleck has arguably grew as an actor, and even more so, grew as a director.
