Last year at Comic-Con we were given a tease for The Avengers: Age of Ultron, with a video of an Iron Man helmet being hammered into the face of the villainous android, Ultron. It was easy to make the leap that Tony Stark has a hand in his creation. Then there’s the most recent casting to support that theory: Paul Bettany, who voices J.A.R.V.I.S., will portray the Vision.
I was apprehensive ever since the sequel for Man of Steel became a Batman Vs. Superman flick. It could easily be seen as suspect after Ben Affleck’s casting as Batman — then there was the ridiculous backlash over Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. Casting continued to throw people off: Jesse Eisenberg will portray Lex Luthor, and Jeremy Irons will be Alfred Pennyworth.
More Marvel news? Of course! They have many movies in the pipeline. The Avengers: Age of Ultron has cast another villain, because you’d need more than a killer A.I.
The latest Marvel rumor is that Johnny Depp is in talks to play Doctor Strange in a “Phase 3” movie. It makes a lot of sense. Depp has strong ties with Disney, and they own Marvel. Putting the two together is a guarantee for success. Unless The Lone Ranger really put the boots to Depp.
Director Edgar Wright (who also writes) has started making waves with Marvel’s Ant-Man entering production. Paul Rudd was cast in the titular role, although it was unclear if he was going to portray original Ant-Man, Hank Pym, or the one who takes up the mantle, Scott Lang. That was put to rest when it was announced that Michael Douglas has joined as Hank Pym.
