I wasn’t in the know until I saw Kaos pop up when I put on Netflix; and seeing Jeff Goldblum starring as Zeus was enough to more than pique my interest. It was a comedic modern take on Greek myths and it seemed to almost play out a Shakespeare play. Almost.

The show centers around a narcissistic and paranoid Zeus, who watches sacrifices in his honor live on TV, his family of gods, and Prometheus manipulating three humans into helping overthrow Zeus.

A lot of the show goes into everybody’s relationships, and the ridiculous whims of the gods. And it was a fun hook having the Greek gods being the main religion of the modern day, and how it reflects on society. And why wouldn’t the gods keep tabs by watching 24 hour news? It just adds to the disconnect while thinking they are informed.

The ending of the series was strong but left you wanting a lot more into season 2. But unfortunately, Netflix continued their tradition of randomly axing shows before they even have a chance to find their footing. It’s one of the annoying things about streaming services filming their own TV shows; if it isn’t a hit right from the start, there’s a chance they will discontinue it without giving it a chance.

It’s frustrating, especially when it’s well done and fun shows like Kaos. Part of me wants to be a pessimist and not bother with watching anything new from Netflix, since it seems like it will just get canceled anyway.

Netflix? More like Nextflix.

Jk jk

Nevertheless, if you haven’t watched Kaos yet, I would still say it’s worth checking out despite it being canceled after one season; it’s still a strong show with an ending that works. It will just leave you wanting more.
