I remember the excitement my friends and I felt when the first trailer dropped for the Power Rangers movie. We — just like all children — were huge fans of the show, and were surprised and gleefully throwing punches and kicks at imaginary putties. Not only was there an upcoming film, but it still starred the actors we know and love.

What added to the excitement were new Power Ranger suits that actually looked like armor instead of the spandex from the show. Of course, back then we didn’t know Power Rangers took footage from sentai in Japan, and added American actors for the scenes that weren’t fights. (More on that another time.) But the film, it wasn’t taking previously made footage; this shot entirely new fights in costume.

Part of the craziness of a movie with all the same actors from the show meant scheduling conflicts were going to happen. Filming the movie went over the initial schedule and would bleed over to the show’s own schedule. Gotta keep things moving, which meant at some point, the actors were shooting scenes for the film, and then going to a nearby set to film the show too. There’s no doubt that it was exhausting for all the actors.

Anyway! This was a lot of words to tell you to check out the making of Power Rangers the movie.
