The Mandalorian was a huge hit for Disney Plus, and someone who stole the show — besides Baby Yoda — was Taika Waititi voicing the quirky droid, IG-11. Oh yeah, he also directed a really good episode on the series too, Chapter 8: Redemption. Then, there’s also the fact that he directed the fantastic Thor: Ragnarok.

The moral of the story is, both Disney and Marvel adore this man. So keeping him modest, they’re giving him his own Star Wars movie to direct and co-write. It’s going to be about the Skywalkers. I’m kidding. We don’t actually know what it’s going to be about. But as long as Disney lets him be delightfully weird without interference, it will be a very fun movie.
