Marvel may have the upper hand in theaters, but DC has a strong presence in television. The upcoming season will see the likes of Gotham, Flash, and Constantine joining the current lineup, and now DC is developing Supergirl for CBS. That would place four out of five broadcast networks airing DC shows. That’s not bad at all.
Greg Berlanti of Arrow and Ali Adler of No Ordinary Family will executive produce.
So, you do know Superman’s cousin, right? Kara Zor-El, otherwise known as Supergirl, has also escaped Krypton’s doom. Growing up on earth, she eventually becomes a superhero; effectively making heroics a family business.
DC has always gotten a lot of flack for their lack of female superheroes in their movies or TV shows. Even more when it comes to having one as the lead character. Supergirl is a step in the right direction. There’s name recognition. She’s a strong character. Literally and figuratively.
