Director Edgar Wright (who also writes) has started making waves with Marvel’s Ant-Man entering production. Paul Rudd was cast in the titular role, although it was unclear if he was going to portray original Ant-Man, Hank Pym, or the one who takes up the mantle, Scott Lang. That was put to rest when it was announced that Michael Douglas has joined as Hank Pym.
“I’ve been dying to do a Marvel picture for so long. The script is really fun, the director is really good. Dylan (the actor’s 13-year-old son) will love it. He’ll have a picture he can see … Sometimes – like (when) they didn’t see you for Liberace – you’ve got to shake them up a little bit and have some fun.”
–Michael Douglas
Does the good news ever stop? Rhetorical question. It should never stop. Douglas is obviously a strong actor. It’s gonna be fun seeing him and Paul Rudd interact as the old and new Ant-Man. Throw in Wright directing them and it’s gonna be magical.
Ant-Man unleashes in theaters July 31, 2015.
