Breaking news! By which I mean it was over a week ago. Edgar Wright’s pet project, Marvel’s Ant-Man continues gathering traction. Actor Paul Rudd will portray the titular character.
“When Edgar came to us with the idea of Paul Rudd we felt a huge sense of relief. We knew early on that we had found the right guy. He not only agreed to to do it but became as enthusiastic as any actor we’ve ever met with about doing the work. We couldn’t be more excited for our audiences to see what he’s going to do to bring Ant-Man to life.”
–Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios President
For which Ant-Man Rudd will play — since there’s two — he’ll portray the original, Hank Pym. Makes sense since he’s an original Avenger.
Wright described Ant-Man as an action adventure with a comedic element. It works for an out-there power — manipulating his own size. It’d be easy to rely heavily on the comedy, but Wright is the perfect director to balance the aspects of the film.
Ant-Man finally hits theaters July 31, 2015.
