Apparently The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will follow in the footsteps of Marvel’s movies by dropping the number in favor of a subtitle. According to Cinepop, the movie’s Brazilian release is entitled The Amazing Spider-Man: Rise of Electro.
It makes sense having the villain’s name in the subtitle, but at this point the phrasing is cliche. I would’ve preferred The Amazing Spider-Man: Fear the Disco of Electro. It would obviously illustrate how fearsome Jamie Foxx’s Electro is.
Despite not liking what the title might be, I’m still very much looking forward to the film. Andrew Garfield is the perfect Peter Parker and Spider-Man. And Foxx’s Electro will electrify the scene — pardon the terrible pun. We can’t forget Paul Giamatti as Rhino, Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn, and Chris Cooper as Norman Osborn. I clearly forgot one more: Emma Stone reprising her role as Gwen Stacy, who will certainly match wits with Parker.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (Rise of Electro?) releases in theaters May 2, 2014.
