Empire had a special podcast with Joss Whedon on his film, Much Ado About Nothing, and naturally, the topic of the sequel to The Avengers came up.
Whedon has kept very busy with Marvel, developing Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for ABC, and writing the screenplay for The Avengers 2. And speaking of which, Whedon turned in his first draft; the story is set. Now it’s a matter of edits and fine tuning.
One of the big questions for the sequel is if Marvel Studios and Whedon will carry on with the additions of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, since Quicksilver was cast in Fox’s X-Men: Days of Future Past.
The answer? Fox’s exploit won’t deter Whedon from including the mutant siblings in The Avengers 2.
“He’s in our movie and he’s going to be dope.”
We’ve hit that unique point where a character will be portrayed in two different franchises by two different actors. It was bound to happen in this case, since Quicksilver (and Scarlet Witch for the matter) can be used by both Marvel and Fox.
Unfortunately, Tom Hiddleston won’t be bringing his Loki to The Avengers 2. The story will bring a different villain, and Loki was never one to play anti-hero to The Avengers.
Now I want Don Cheadle reprising his role as Rhodey (War Machine (ROX)) and fighting Bruce Banner for the best-friends-forever status with Tony Stark. War Machine was an Avenger in the comics, after all.
