The casting for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was completed with additional cast members; Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson, Jamie Foxx as Electro, Paul Giamatti as Rhino, and Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn. Director Marc Webb’s version of our favorite web-head is going to feel a lot more familiar with those characters joining Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker and Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy.
Filming has officially started, and the synopsis was released:
“In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past…“
The inclusion of Harry Osborn certainly means they’ll bring some family drama between the Parkers and the Osborns. After all, Peter’s parents worked for Harry’s father. Interesting enough, there’s been no casting announcements on Norman Osborn himself. Perhaps he’ll be the main baddie in the third Spider-Man flick?
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 swings into theaters May 2, 2014.
Gasp! Jamie Foxx! Yay!
