Disney clearly intends to make fans happy with their additional Star Wars films in development. Their search for directors continues, but their heart is already set on an artist for the posters.
Disney reached out to artist Drew Struzan, wanting him to create the posters for their next three Star Wars movies. Why? Well, the guy created the posters for the original trilogy — not to mention Indiana Jones and Harry Potter. Though, the downside is that the man is retired.
“You know, I spent 35 years painting Star Wars. I painted Star Wars before most of you were born! But I guess there is always a chance. There’s no intention. But I would love to have a day off every now and again, and I have to work a weekend and all through the night. If the opportunity arises, it will be a real temptation. But it’s going to have to be a real temptation to get me away from my wife and my little grandkids and my family. Away from the green trees and the blue skies for a change instead of just locked in the studio. But, you know, never say never. All things are possible.”

I would say that Struzan should come out of retirement to create the posters for the new films; it would be incredible. But he’s more than earned his retirement. So if anything, he should come on board as a consultant for the new posters. Let a new artist take the reigns, and Struzan can be the guide.
