Joss Whedon’s television show S.H.I.E.L.D. is well underway with production, and the inclusion of Clark Gregg’s Agent Phil Coulson makes fans excited. Not only is the series set in the same universe as the films, they will even share an actor — something that is rarely done. And Marvel intends to do more than just that.
Cobie Smulders, who played Agent Maria Hill in The Avengers, was in talks with Marvel about the possibility of bringing the character onto the show. It turns out that her commitments on How I Met Your Mother wouldn’t affect appearances on S.H.I.E.L.D., so it’s pretty much a given that Agent Maria Hill will show up on the series at some point. And why not? Smulders is reprising her role in Captain America: Winter Soldier after all.
Oh yeah, and there is this comment:
“I will do Maria Hill until they fire me and hire someone else to do it.”
–Cobie Smulders
Phrasing! By which I mean: it’s practically a given that Agent Hill will make appearances on S.H.I.E.L.D.
The show will debut this fall on ABC.
