As promised by Marvel, the first official trailer for Iron Man 3 is released. The Extremis armor is heavily featured — as expected — but not so expected? Stark’s monologue doesn’t sound so smug, he sounds concerned and remorseful. Then there’s the Mandarin’s monologue, full of purpose, explaining his actions towards Iron Man.

There’s a couple scenes — other than Stark calling on the armor telepathically — that look like something out of Extremis. I don’t want to spoil it, but anyone who read that story arc will know what I’m talking about.

The trailer is powerful and definitely different than the previous Iron Man films. Tony Stark looks to have the character development people have been wanting. Our beloved sarcastic hero will learn he’s not as untouchable as he thought.
