Leave it to actor Vin Diesel to use Facebook to directly keep his fans in the loop on his film projects. He shared an official photo of Riddick with his new look and a particular weapon that appears to be made from a creature’s skull.

Diesel also had a few words about the rough cut of the movie:

“You know I like to let you in on things, even before Hollywood knows… Haha… Last night I was invited in to the editing room, to see the first cut of the new Riddick… WOW!!! P.s. I was so affected/excited… I couldn’t sleep. GRRRR!!“

It’s great seeing Vin Diesel practically living out his D&D character on film; his geeking out and excitement for the Riddick franchise is infectious. After all, Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick were a lot of fun — I expect the same with the third.

Riddick is slated for a 2013 release.
