The redband trailer for the prequel The Thing starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead is online. The move follows the events taking place before John Carpenter’s 1982 version.
So what does this entail? The prequel is set on a Norwegian base in Antarctica where scientists discover something that resembles a spacecraft. Naturally curious, the scientists unearth the contents and inadvertently defrost a creature.
What sets The Thing apart from other horror movies? The horror not only comes from the creature, but the fact that it can infect others and turn them into “things” while mimicking them. It places paranoia in the team’s minds and a level of growing distrust between them.
The trailer follows the same tone of Carpenter’s version, but only time will tell if it’ll measure up.
The Thing hits theaters October 14.
I’ve seen both original and the remake movie “The Thing”, I have to admit I enjoy the remake more than the original. Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s role in my opinion made the show more than Kurt Russell. Although there were some scenes that were not in the original this movie still turned out pretty good. I’d watch it again….
