The prequel to 1939’s Wizard of Oz receives more news: joining James Franco and Mila Kunis in director Sam Raimi’s Oz: The Great and Powerful is Oscar-winning actress Rachel Weisz. She will portray the antagonistic witch named Evanora.
Evanora is the sister of the witch Theodorah, who is played by Mila Kunis. She wants to rule the land and tries to persuade her sister to join her cause.
James Franco stars as Oz, a snake oil salesman who finds himself lost in the land and having to deal with real magic once he meets the witches.
Former playwright David Lindsay-Abaire scripted the movie.
Weisz makes a good addition to the cast, who are already charismatic enough. The film could end up just as memorable as Wizard of Oz.
Oz: The Great and Powerful is slated for release in 2013.
This movie sounds like its going to be lame.
